About me

Gosh, where do I begin?

I am a recovering researcher who is currently exploring how social media can be used for science research, education and advocacy.  Science funding and data collection is not getting easier, so why not harness the power of the people to help fill in the gaps where there is a lack of sensors, equipment or official channels of information. We're all happy to talk about the weather, so why not use it for the greater good.

My expertise is in geospatial data management, data policy, science innovation and social media strategy.  I am comfortable discussing fish gonads and fisheries quotas, tsunami forecasting, hazard mitigation as well as where the best panpepato can be found in Rome.

I take lots of pictures, none of them are particularly awesome, but I keep on trying.

I have another blog focusing on cooking - mostly Persian food and some other cuisines.

I am located in Seattle, WA, but am happy to travel to pretty much anywhere at the drop of a hat.
